Renewal of International Ambassador Scholarship (IAS) Award

Criteria for Renewal
  • The Student shall have maintained a cumulative GPA of 2.5 at Michigan Tech
  • The Student must have registered and completed a full course load and maintained F-1 visa status
  • The student shall have completed a minimum of 30 hours of university community service during the prior year. The volunteer work/community service must be completed and verified by the organization where services were offered
  • Students new for Spring semester must complete 15 hours of service by the approved deadline
  • Community service hours must be completed from an eligible local venue. If an applicant selects a student organization for community service, it must represent an ethnic/cultural group other than the applicant’s own. This is to ensure that international students from particular cultures become involved in cross-cultural learning opportunities in a variety of university and community settings.
  • The Student is responsible for locating and contacting organizations offering community services

Deadlines
  • Deadline for renewal request: May 1. Please attach all appropriate forms.

    NOTE: If a Student fails to complete the renewal procedure, or is denied renewal, his/her IAS will be discontinued. Students may have award re-instated for a later semester by complying with renewal criteria.

Students wishing to begin the appeal procedure for reinstatement consideration should contact the IPS office.
