How to Get Involved During International Education Week

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
IEW Home

There are several ways that university community can get involved in the activities of International Education Week:

Initiate and co-sponsor a new program or co-sponsor one of the listed programs. IPS invites all international clubs and departments to “initiate and co-sponsor” an event or program for the IEW.

  • Faculty offers extra credit for attending IEW events
  • Students, faculty and staff publicize IEW events
  • University community attends and supports IEW events

University community displays global art and info, wear ethnic dresses, international ties/T shirts, taste ethnic food at the MUB etc.

If our club/department wants to initiate a new event or co-sponsor one of the above listed program, what should we do?
You can send our proposal to IPS. The proposed must specify:

  • Type of event and how it will enhance the theme of the IEW
  • Theme of the event and proposed location and rationale for selection of the location
  • Responsible person/coordinator of the event
  • Estimated budget and how much funds do you have
  • Publicity Plan
  • Targeted audience

Does your proposed event addresses one of the following areas?:
      • International or cross-cultural learning
      • Global competence
      • Global diversity
      • International or interethnic harmony and peace
      • International environmental sustainability

Deadline for the proposal is October 10, 2007. All proposals must be sent to ssuleman@mtu.edu

What if I want to discuss our proposal in person before we submit, Can I/we do that?
You need to take an appointment with IPS' Director to discuss your proposal before submitting. This discussion will determine whether your ideas are feasible for this year or upcoming years and how IPS can support you. Please call 906-487-2160 or e-mail ips@mtu.edu.
