Just for you! The Office of Residence Life, Residential Services, and the International Programs and Services are proud to offer the International House Living Option at Michigan Technological University. Created in an effort to enhance your learning experiences here at Tech., the International House Living Option (I-House) began with the start of the 1996-1997 academic year. We hope you will try this new living experience. The International House (I-House) is located on the 2nd floor of West McNair Hall; Michigan Tech's newest residence hall. Conveniently located close to classes and other campus resources, I-House will allow you to experience a multicultural living environment; one in which you will learn more about yourself and others. If you are an international student and you choose to live in the International House, you will be living with a student from the United States who is interested in learning about you and others from outside the U.S. If you are from the United States, and you choose to live in I-House, you will be paired with a roommate from another country who is interested in learning more about life in the United States. In general, we hope you and your roommate will make I-House the very special living place we know it will be. The StaffThe staff in McNair Hall, and especially in I-House, have been extensively trained to respond to your needs. They are available 24 hours a day to assist you, and they pride themselves on the many programs and services they offer each year. Specifically, I-House is staffed by two Resident Assistants who can help you in many ways, and a Program Assistant who has been specifically selected to work with all residents of the International House by providing programs of interest to all residents. The overall I-House program is coordinated by a professional Residence Hall Coordinator. I-House has been created to meet your needs! Kitchen facilities have been included so you can prepare your favorite snack, and McNair Hall is equipped with group study rooms, computer labs, laundry facilities, a game room, and social lounges for your convenience. Additionally, the menu selections in the McNair Hall Dining Room have been selected specifically to reflect a multicultural living environment and the different tastes of these cultures, and have been created from recipes donated by international students who currently attend MTU. Throughout the year, you will also find a variety of Cultural Dinners; dinners which are centered around specific ethnic menus and which will give all students the opportunity to sample the cuisine from different cultures. Come Join Us!We hope you will consider becoming a part of this new living experience at Michigan Tech! If you do, you can participate in a residential living setting which offers the following advantages:
